THE HOUSE OF ONE GRAM — ₹1,799
Collector Guidance · Frequently Asked Questions

Clarity before every acquisition.

Direct answers regarding 1.00 g Pampore Mongra saffron scale and pricing, home water-purity testing, 70°C culinary blooming, ISO 3632 laboratory verification, global DDP customs terms, and food-hygiene seal protection.

01 · Physical Scale, Yield & India Price

How much saffron is in 1.00 g, what does it cost, and how many cups will it prepare?

Because Pampore saffron is cured below 10–12% moisture, 1.00 g comprises approximately 450 to 500 whole crimson stigmas harvested by hand from roughly 150 dawn Crocus sativus blossoms. In India, ZAFORA's 1.00 g Signature Gift Box is ₹1,799 (inclusive of GST and complimentary domestic air courier). Using 4 to 6 strands per serving, one 1.00 g flacon prepares 25 to 30 culinary infusions (~₹60 per cup). The glass flacon, woven jute pouch, and black-and-gold rigid coffret are protective vessels for the 1.00 g net weight—never extra spice weight.

02 · Home Purity Verification

How do I test pure Kashmiri Mongra saffron vs fake or dyed saffron at home?

Drop 2 dry threads into clear warm (70°C) or room-temperature water without stirring. Pure Pampore Mongra saffron releases natural Crocin gradually over 10 to 15 minutes into a luminous, transparent golden-yellow while the threads stay deep crimson, flare into a trumpet crown at the tip, and taste earthy-bitter (never sweet). Fake or dyed threads bleed an instant neon-red cloud within seconds and turn pale.

03 · Terroir & Botanical Grade

What is the difference between Kashmiri Pampore Mongra (Kong) and Iranian or Spanish saffron?

Kashmiri Mongra grows at 1,610 meters on Pampore's glacial karewa silt-loam plateaus in the Kashmir Valley and consists strictly of detached whole dark-ruby stigmas with zero pale yellow floral style (unlike Lacha or lower-cut grades). Its cold mountain nights and high-altitude UV sunlight yield thicker trumpet stigmas and ISO 3632 Category-I Crocin colouring strength (Crocin 238 on Lot ZAF-KS-2026-014, well above the 200 Category-I threshold).

04 · Culinary Technique

What is the proper way to bloom whole saffron threads?

Draw 4 to 6 dry strands with clean tweezers and steep them in 30 ml of warm water, milk, or stock at 65–75°C for 15 to 20 minutes before folding both liquid and threads into Kashmiri Kahwa, Kesar Doodh, Biryani, or patisserie. Avoid dropping dry threads directly into boiling 100°C water or hot frying oil, which volatilizes delicate Safranal aroma.

05 · Proof & Batch Passports

How do I verify the ISO 3632 laboratory report for my exact flacon before opening it?

Scan the outer QR code printed on your gift coffret or enter the printed Lot ID (such as ZAF-KS-2026-014) on our Proof & Quality page before breaking the inner hygiene seal. Each Batch Passport displays Crocin (440 nm), Picrocrocin (257 nm), Safranal (330 nm), moisture percentage, 0.00% HPLC synthetic-dye screening, chain-of-custody timestamps, and a downloadable Certificate of Analysis.

06 · Storage & 24-Month Potency

How should I store Kashmiri saffron threads so they keep full aroma and colour?

Keep your threads sealed inside ZAFORA's inert borosilicate glass flacon with the cork stopper pressed firmly, nestled inside its dark rigid gift coffret in a cool, dry cupboard away from direct sunlight and stove steam. Never refrigerate saffron, as condensation introduces moisture into the dry stigmas.

07 · Regulatory Truthfulness

Why does an organic certificate appear in some destination countries and not others?

Organic food claims are governed by bilateral statutory equivalence between the certifying standard (such as India NPOP) and the destination import jurisdiction. ZAFORA's Batch Passport engine evaluates certificate recognition against your selected destination country and automatically suppresses front-of-page organic marketing badges in jurisdictions where bilateral equivalence is not held on file.

08 · Domestic & International Dispatch

Does ZAFORA ship internationally, and are customs duties included?

Approved air corridors are coordinated via our 6 client offices across Kashmir, New Delhi, London, New York, Dubai, and Paris: India (₹1,799 GST & air courier inclusive), United Kingdom (DDP duties pre-cleared), United Arab Emirates (DDP), United States (DDP with FDA Prior Notice), and European Union (DDU — destination import VAT collected upon arrival). Non-cleared biosecurity jurisdictions such as Australia remain checkout-locked until import permits conclude.

09 · Weddings, Diwali, Eid & Corporate Gifting

Can I order custom single-lot gift boxes for weddings, Diwali, Eid, or diplomatic hospitality?

Yes. Every coffret includes a bespoke 400 gsm gold-bordered cotton dedication card and an instant WhatsApp Digital Chinar Wax-Seal Gift Reveal link. Private wedding trousseaus and corporate commissions from 10 to 250+ matched single-lot coffrets can be configured on our Gifting page or via concierge@shopzafora.com.

10 · Food Hygiene & Returns

Can I return a saffron coffret if it has been opened?

Beneath the natural cork crown sits an inner food-contact hygiene tamper seal. For statutory food-safety reasons, once the inner food-contact tamper seal is broken, the flacon cannot be restocked or returned for change of mind. Unopened coffrets with intact inner hygiene seals may be returned within the applicable statutory window, and any parcel arriving with transit damage is replaced or refunded promptly by care@shopzafora.com.
